Grace period and reinstatement aren't hard. The manual just explains them chapters apart, and never side by side.

You read the chapter on life provisions. By the last page, grace period and reinstatement have swapped places. So you go back to the start. Same result.

The policy types blur together too: whole, universal, variable, indexed. Four names, four paragraphs that start the same way, and no picture that puts each one in its own spot.

Then the practice questions hit you with EXCEPT. You knew the answer — but the wording made you doubt what you already studied.

Grace period: 30–31 days, still covered. Reinstatement: proof of insurability plus back premiums.

This is page 23. Grace period and reinstatement, each on its own half of the page. You see when the policy stays in force and what it takes to put it back — on one page, not in two separate chapters.

When two provisions sit side by side, the difference is obvious. When they sit in two different chapters, they blur.

COMPARE

The same topic, studied two ways

INSTEAD OF THIS
  • Read a dense page of definitions and try to pin down which provision is which.
  • Flip between chapters to compare two things that sound alike.
  • Hit an EXCEPT question and reread it three times hoping to catch the twist.
The grace period is the period of time after a premium is due and unpaid during which the policy remains in force. For life insurance policies, the grace period is typically 31 days. During the grace period, the policyowner may pay the overdue premium and continue coverage without evidence of insurability. If the insured dies during the grace period, the death benefit will be paid, minus the overdue premium. Reinstatement is the process by which a lapsed policy may be put back in force. The policyowner must apply for reinstatement, typically within a period set by the policy (often 3 to 5 years), provide evidence of insurability, and pay all overdue premiums with interest. A reinstated policy's contestable period and suicide clause start over from the date of reinstatement.
CHOOSE THIS
  • See both provisions drawn side by side on one page.
  • Open one page and the pair is already there, side by side.
  • Take the question apart in four fixed steps and spot the twist before you look at the answers.
Grace period: 30–31 days, still covered. Reinstatement: proof of insurability plus back premiums.

Turn the page: one idea, already drawn.

Each page covers one idea with a drawing that shows it. No flipping between chapters. No rereading the same paragraph to find the rule.

AD&D: principal sum for death or two limbs or both eyes; capital sum, a percentage, for one.

This is page 40: accidental death and dismemberment. Principal sum for death or loss of two limbs or both eyes. Capital sum — a percentage — for one. The drawing shows who gets what, on one page.

When the question shows up, it's the scene that comes back, not the paragraph.

A drawn scene gives each rule a place. On exam day, you go back to that place.

Common questions

Is this a physical book or a digital file?

It's a digital PDF. You receive it by email and you can print it at home or read it on any screen.

Can I read it on my phone?

Yes. Every page is designed to be readable on a phone screen in portrait mode.

Where does the PDF arrive?

PDF by email, to the address you enter at checkout.

Does this cover my state's exam?

It covers the general portion of the Life & Health exam only. The state-specific portion is not included and also counts toward your score — download your state's content outline from your Department of Insurance and study that part separately. Property & Casualty is a separate exam and is not covered here.

Does this replace my pre-licensing course?

No. It's a study companion that organizes the general content visually. It doesn't give you a certificate or count toward pre-licensing hours. If your state requires a pre-licensing course, you still need to complete it. Some states also require a classroom course — this book complements that course, it doesn't replace it.

Are these real exam questions?

No. We wrote every question in the book and in both bonus books ourselves. None come from Pearson VUE, PSI, Prometric or any state exam.

Is this too basic if I already took the exam once?

It's not a beginner intro. It covers the same general content you already studied, laid out so the look-alike pairs sit on the same page. If telling them apart was what tripped you up, that's the part that changes.

Is this a one-time payment?

Yes. One payment, no subscription, nothing recurring.

What are the two free books?

Read the Question First: 150 original practice questions, each one taken apart with arrows, so you see how EXCEPT and double negatives work. The Look-Alike Pairs: quick-review cards you can print, with the provisions that sound the same. The manual runs hundreds of pages and the provisions blur together; the kit is the drawn book plus these two.

Is this affiliated with Pearson VUE, PSI, Prometric or any state regulator?

No. This guide is independently published and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any exam provider, state Department of Insurance, or regulatory body.

Before you close this page

Grace period and reinstatement don't blur when they sit side by side on the same page.

The EXCEPT question loses its trick when you take it apart in four fixed steps before reading the answers.

You've already put in the hours. This puts them in order.

Open the book, find the pair that keeps tripping you up, and see the difference drawn. That's it.
